It is entirely understandable to mourn if you have experienced a recent literal death of a person or other living being. But it is also okay to grieve the loss of other casualties of change. Not every death may seem necessary, but all were inevitable, and this time of year gives us space to reflect on that. Even as some fall away, though, others persist, including you, dear reader. So continue to carry life’s flame with you as the sun rises on another day, allow yourself to work through the losses you’ve experienced and, when you’re ready, take a step forward into the future.
